Wonderful comments. The myth of hell itself has caused suffering for humanity. People fear death and retribution from an angry God; that's part of the reason people have turned from God. Parents agonize over a son or daughter they feel may be "burning in hell." People whose loved one committed suicide feel there's no hope for them, throughout eternity. These are terrible burdens for people to bear, and they result from promulgation of a myth.
