Hello Joseph,

You wrote,
I am finished following anything to the extent of "hook, line, and sinker."

Those are wise words. Nothing in the physical realm is spiritual. That’s difficult for people to believe when they’ve been reared to believe the church is the house of God, the scriptures are the word of God, and the priests or ministers are the representatives of God. Those are old, archaic, tribal beliefs that will fade away just as belief in humanlike Gods who live on Mount Olympus and hurl lightning bolts down at people have faded away. They’re beliefs that were part of humankind’s primitive past, but for true spirituality to emerge, those old beliefs must be abandoned.

The spiritual realm is entirely outside of the physical realm. In the physical realm, our eternal selves, our spirits, learn lessons we carry into eternity. On Earth, we are the embryos who will grow into spiritual adults through continued, steady growth over millions of what we now know as Earth years. But the physical realm is just a brief moment in our eternal lives, like a movie we go to, watch, and then walk away from when the movie is over.

And so, if anyone believes something from some organization or book or person in the physical realm, that isn’t spiritual. What is spiritual is each person’s personal growth in spiritual maturity. That growth comes through learning lessons, listening to the guidance of the Higher Power and those on the next planes of life, and being completely open and free to learn and grow.

Following the rules of some person, some organization, or some thing in the physical realm effectively shuts down hearing the counsel from the Higher Power (sometimes called the Holy Spirit) and from the people and guides who love us and want the best for us who are in the next realms of life. To hear them and benefit from their guidance, we must abandon the archaic religious rules and belief systems. They bind us to the Earth, regardless of how much they profess to be spiritual. To follow a spiritual path, we must find our own way in partnership with the Higher Power and those on the next planes of life.

The teachings of someone like Yeshua bar Yosef (Jesus) help us to learn and grow. But we must hear them as inspiring teachings, not rules. We then will think about the inspiring teachings and during that thinking, we’ll receive guidance and illumination from the Higher Power and those on the next planes of life if we're completely open. We will then decide what part of the teachings have meaning for us, and that realization will help us grow. The spiritual growth is what is eternal and spiritual, not the teachings and certainly not the people who gave the teachings.

When humankind realizes that, we’ll stop killing each other and separating ourselves from each other in the name of religion. And that will result in a new humankind.

Love and peace, Craig
