What are the "shadow people" and "robed beings"? "Aliens" and "UFOs"?

Hi Craig. Even though I'm the (evolving and mystically-sympathetic) agnostic, this one still manages to hit really close to home...I know there are all sorts of theories out there in the "New Agey" crowd (I say that without any derision; it's just the catch-all term for people who believe in a "soul" and an "afterlife", etc, but don't subscribe to any religion) regarding "residual negative energies" and what "ghosts" might be, etc. But my question isn't about "hauntings" and alleged apparitions of deceased human beings (although I'd like to know how those things happen as well). My question is about certain "entities" that show up from time to time, in often vastly different situations. In particular, the somewhat but not completely rare "robed beings", whose faces you can never see. They sometimes appear in so-called UFO abductions, OBEs, NDEs and - in a case I'm familiar with - during the middle of the night to people who were awake. In this last case, the interesting bit is that the one person who encountered the being up close had been dabbling with several (what's the word?) "mystical practices" - stuff like mirror-gazing, past-life regression and astral travel. I should also note that after the two people encountered this being, there was a period of about 8 missing hours, and the next thing they knew they were back in their bed and it was daytime. Neither person recalls what happened during the missing time, so neither can recall if "bad things" were done to them. I.e. I have no idea if this robed being was a "negative energy/entity" or what-have-you. So for these and other reasons, I'm highly interested in this apparent intersection of "aliens", "UFOs" and "abductions", with NDEs and OBEs, with religion, with various spiritual and mystical practices and encounters, with various paranomral entities (the often-reported "shadowy" or "misty" people). It's like, if true, if we take all these stories at face value, there *has* to be a connection of some kind. It's like there's some "meta-phenomenon" going on. Are we informed at all about these things from the ADC phenomenon? Again, thanks a ton. Ron
