what part does the physical have in our life?

Hi Dr. Hogan,
If who we are is Spirit, what part does our physical body play in life? Are they what provide Spirit free-will, and He learns through us? Does Spirit become attached to the physical body He lives in? Please explain the importance and significance of separateing flesh and Spirit. Do you learn things from this forum?
