Hello Tyron,

You really shouldn't fret about the old Christian myths. Jesus (Yeshua) and his teachings are very important. They are the light by which we can see and understand our relationship to others and the Higher Power. But the Christian religion is full of archaic myths that have done tremendous harm to humankind. Don't pay attention to them. They're not what Jesus (Yeshua) taught.

The church teaches that God, a big old white guy in the sky, came down to Earth and fathered a child by a mortal woman so he could sacrifice the child because humankind was so terrible that he couldn't figure out another way to reconcile with humans. He set it up so his son would be killed. So now everyone has to swear allegiance to the sacrificed son or be tormented in a fiery pit for all of eternity. To show allegiance to this god's sacrificed son, everyone has to drink his blood and eat his flesh.

Now do you really think the Higher Power, that is pure love, would be that ogre in the sky?

Christians don't know Jesus' teachings. They believe this strange mythology taught by the church instead. Jesus wanted to be a servant and wanted us to all be servants. He washed the disciples feet, just as the lowest servant would do. The church has made him a king, with huge cathedrals. He wanted his teachers to have no belongings and live off of what people give them. The church has priests and evangelists who are wealthy and a church that has billions of dollars while people are starving. Jesus said the way to heaven was to love others and love God. The church said the way is to swear allegiance to Jesus. Jesus said go directly to God. The church said you can only get to God by listening to the church and swearing allegiance to Jesus. Jesus said the Holy Spirit would lead people to the truth, and would open the door to anyone who knocked. The church said the only truth is in the Bible and they have to interpret the Bible for us. Jesus never mentioned a Bible and never said go to the priest or minister to learn about God. Jesus said forgive and do not judge or condemn. The church teaches that Jesus condemns people to everlasting torment.

And it goes on and on. The church isn't teaching what Jesus (Yeshua) taught. The Bible is just a collection of stories. No one even suggested these books were divinely inspired until the second century, long after they were written. The authors never said they were dictated by God. Jesus never said there would be books God would write that people should obey. He said go directly to God.

Tyron, look for God in you. You and God have a special, one-to-one relationship. Your relationship to God is as complete and pure as the Pope's or any evangelist's. Nothing outside of you is godly. You don't need anything outside of you to learn about God or approach God. By going to things outside of yourself for answers, you're actually ignoring the voice of God that is always speaking to you.

Love and peace, Craig
