Hi Dr. Hogan, To be materialistic goes deeper then simply desiring more stuff, but I think it involves relying on this world and believing it will provide what is necessary for a positive life. I think it is when we allow our physical senses to overpower our internal knowing. I think it is when we actually believe the stuff we touch is solid, the flowers we see or smell have color and aroma, the food we eat has taste, and the music we listen to provides an audible sound. To me, relying on the human senses is what being materialistic is. It seems that the world we share has even provided a more comforting definition of the word, materialism. I grew up to think that being materialistic was wanting things and lots of them. Love, Kim
